Tormach Releases New CNC Milling Accessory
Tormach LLC, a premier manufacturer of affordable CNC mills and accessories, announces the addition of a CNC Drag Knife to the existing product line of milling accessories. (PN 32440).
The CNC Drag Knife swivels and rotates freely on two ball bearings, cutting as a CNC mill drags it around a design profile. The CNC Drag Knife comes fully assembled with one 45 degree blade, which is ideal for cutting adhesive-backed sign vinyl. A 60 degree replacement blade is also available through the Tormach website and can be used on materials like cardboard, paper, plastic, and metal sheet.
The CNC Drag Knife uses a carbide knife to cut through a variety of end materials,” explained Tormach Application Engineer Andy Grevstad. “Because the CNC Drag Knife fits any ¼ inch toolholder or collet, any of our new and existing customers can use the knife to expand the utility of their personal CNC mills.”

RENO, NEV. (July 21, 2011) — At the Academy of Arts, Careers and Technology in Reno, Nev., students are learning to fabricate and prototype on the same robotic technology that is the preferred tool of aircraft engineers, ship builders and the U.S. military.

Gaylord Rodeman, welding instructor at the Washoe County career and technical school, uses a “4X8” “Torchmate 3” CNC machine with Arc Voltage Height Control (AVHC) in his classroom to take learning one step further — from a hypothetical, textbook-oriented idea to a hands-on project.
